Mindy

Sunday, February 28, 2010

Mindy is a dear friend of mine that in the last year has accomplished quite a feat.  Throughout the course of a year, with diet and exercise, Mindy has managed to lose 100 pounds.  Mindy is a single mom that works a full work week and tends to 2 beautiful, active children and this makes her accomplishment even more inspiring.  I made her promise me that when she was ready she would let me photograph her.  I know she thought I'd forget and she agreed.  I know it was extremely difficult for her to  get in front of the camera without the comfort of her children next to her, but I'm SO thankful she let me do this for her...for her kids.  She is a beautiful person on the inside and outside and I'm proud to call her my friend.

If you have any questions for Mindy, she is an open book.  Leave a comment with your question and I'm sure she will not mind checking in and answering your question via the comments section for the reading benefit of others that might also be interested in Mindy's journey.

Audrey: A mini shoot

Thursday, February 25, 2010

Little Miss Priss Audrey concludes my mini shoot posts and I'll tell you that this one is a little sentimental for me as I've photographed her since she was weeks old.  She is turning 3 and my how time has a way of changing things.  Last year, I was hiding behind trees so that I wouldn't make her cry while taking her picture and this year she was in my hip pocket.  We had a good time.

Chloie: A mini shoot

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

Chloie is no stranger to my blog and any of you who know her know what a sweetheart she is.  Chloie's mom is a wonderful girl-mom and loves accessorizing Chloie's outfits with just the right bows, tutus, or appliques so I know that anytime I am going to photograph her I can expect a perfectly coordinated outfit!

Chloie is my new best friend everytime I see her and I can't tell you how good it makes me feel that she'll hold my hand and talk to me like her playground friend.

Ashton and Adrianna: A mini shoot

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

These kiddos come from a mother and father not lacking in personality.  So, it is no surprise to me that they're both equipped with personalities bigger than life.  Mom was a little nervous about their chosen props, but I think they just made these pictures come alive.

Meet Ashton andAdrianna:

As a photographer, I am always searching for beautiful bright light when I'm on location.  Light is my friend.  But, sweet Adrianna has an eye condition that makes her extremely sensitive to bright light.  In fact the first time mom brought her to me for photographs I had to reassure her that I would not use a flash.  We did the best we could and fortunately the early morning light wasn't too hard for Adrianna to handle.  She did great and in fact she asked me for one more picture of herself at the very end.  She is a girly girly girl after my own heart.

I wish you could have been a fly on the wall for this shoot.  They are everything you want your kids to be...sweet, outgoing, cute, and funny.

Molly and Kennedy: A mini shoot

Sunday, February 21, 2010

I am SO excited that my first try at back to back mini shoots was sooooo successful.  I have been hesitant to try these for fear that clients would be late or try to infringe on other client's 30 minute slots.  However, I couldn't have asked for better clients this past Saturday.  They all showed up dressed in their precious attire and everyone was so respectful of the time allotment.  So BIG thank you!  And, since this past Saturday went so well, I'm going to try it again in March at the same location.  Once you email me to reserve your spot, I will send you an invoice for a non-refundable $50 retainer fee to hold your spot and the balance is due the day of your shoot.

Saturday:  March 13th  (rain out make-up day is Sat. March 20th)

8:00 a.m.

8:35 a.m.

9:10 a.m.

9:45 a.m.

These are sessions preferably for children over 3 years of age.  Siblings only and no more than 2.  The fee is $125 for the first child and an additional $25 if you add a second.

Now, if you're wondering whether or not to book check out the first session of the day.  I must say that it's exactly what I envisioned.

I love the hazy glow of the morning light.  It reminds me of the light you get after an afternoon rainshower has concluded and out comes the sun again.   It gives me warm fuzzies.

Here is beautiful Molly.  I loved this one in color, too, but I really like the crystal-y look of her light eyes in black and white.

And how about this for serendipity??

I love the look on Molly's face and her small frame juxtaposed with the large window and brick wall.

Fun and Sheek Easter Sneak Peek

Monday, February 8, 2010

I should really be waiting until the designer Shawn has these pictures in her hands before I show off her new designs, but I am so excited about her adorable Easter/Spring outfits.  She makes little girl clothes that are everything little girl clothes should be....modest, sweet, fun, and bright.

You can keep up with Shawn on her blog FUN AND SHEEK or see some of her creations on her ETSY site.  I know she'll be updating her shop in the coming months with new things.
