The Saenz Family

Monday, November 30, 2009

I know you've noticed that this time of year is focused on the family unit.  I've been lucky to know Andi through my business and have had the opportunity a few times to photograph her and her son, but this time was a special occasion as dad and daughter, Ashley, joined in on the fun.

Between tending to animals, traveling to shows, attending fair board meetings, and taking care of the kids, Paul and Andi stay pretty busy.  They're always on the go so for them to set aside and afternoon for pictures is a pretty special thing. I'm so thankful to be the chosen one behind the lens.

And this one is so relevant to the Saenz family with their cowboy boots on.

Thanks for choosing me again, Andi.  It really makes me feel good.

Heartspun Housekeeping:

I am not booking any new sessions for 2009.  I'm going to concentrate on the appts. that are pending or already in the books and pick up again in January.  It's been a fantastic holiday season with lots of new faces and familiar faces and I'm thankful for all of them.  Check back tomorrow for another post!

The Salazar Family Shoot

Sunday, November 29, 2009

I'm back to blogging this week.  I needed to put it on the back burner for a few days last week so I could get caught up on all of my client work.   This week, I'll be showcasing that client work.

Meet the Salazar Family:

09
We met at Mercer Arboretum in Humble for a few shots with baby Max who is as busy as ever and walking all over the place.  Aren't his eyes dreamy?  I've really been noticing eyes lately...brown ones, blue ones, oval ones, long lashes, thick lashes.   14

Check out these brown eyes...and his toofies are pretty cute, too.

I always make it a point to get a shot of moms all alone when I go to shoots.  They're usually the ones behind the cameras and rarely are they in pictures.  I know one day when Max is all grown up, he will treasure this picture of his mother.  I am definitely guilty of never being in pictures and I need to do better about that.

And one more for the road...

The Wheatley Family

Monday, November 23, 2009

Mom, Mackenzie, is a photographer and when she contacted me to do this shoot I have to be honest and tell you that my heart was pounding in my ears.  I was nervous and excited all at once and wondered if I was up to the task.  The day came and the weather seemed iffy and I wondered if perhaps God would be so kind as to send a torrential rain and relieve me from my task.  That didn't happen and I'm glad it didn't.  I'm thrilled that it didn't.  I would have missed all the fun.

02

I'll also say that this may have been one of the easiest shoots ever.  The kids are sweet and happy and so willing to entertain me behind the lens.

Thank you for this opportunity.  It was a growing moment in many ways for me, Mackenzie.

The Jenkins: A Family Shoot

Sunday, November 22, 2009

They're back!  This little threesome is back for the 3rd time this year and it as I was proofing these pictures I looked back at the ones I took of Noah last January.  He's not even mine, but it still makes my heart drop at how much he's grown and changed in less than a year.  Hold on to that baby, Kayce and Stephen!

03

I love the color hues in the next picture...bright red shirt, beautiful hair, and gorgeous blue eyes.  It's the perfect fall combination of colors.

I like Kayce's hair.  I really like the color.  It contrasts beautifully with her fair complexion.

And I caught this father/son moment.

And Noah would like to bid you farewell.

The Asbills: Family

Thursday, November 19, 2009

It can pay to think out of the box.  When Amber said she wanted her family Christmas portraits at a junkyard I got butterflies.  I knew we would find plenty of texture, color, and it would be different from anything I've shot before.

I really like the juxtaposition of the above shot.

Asbill 314

I love the Asbill's sense of style.  They're hip and fresh.  They're beautiful and they're uber-talented.  They lead the contemporary worship music at our church and listening to them sing together really inspires me to better my craft.

And little Emma is a little grown-up.  I love interacting with her because she is an old soul kinda like the van, but prettier.

I didn't have the heart to convert any of these to black and white.

And a fun series to wrap it up.

The Smith Family: A Family Shoot

Wednesday, November 18, 2009

Sarah and Dax asked if I would take their family Christmas pictures.  Being their first Christmas together as a married couple I was honored to do the honors!  Here's the happy family:

Caden was asleep about 5 minutes before the above picture was taken, but he awoke with a grin on his face and I knew we were going to have a great shoot.

 I like pearl snap shirts.

I like country music (the old stuff) and I like Big Red.

24
I like 2nd and 3rd timers.  I'm always a little ill at ease the first time I shoot a family, but the second time they're likely to get invited to Thanksgiving dinner.  Sarah and Dax have an open invite to my house for dinner.  They're good people.

36

About 3/4 of the way into our shoot Caden's cousins showed up to join in on the fun.  And like magic, one cowboy turned into 3 cowboys and those 3 cowboys sat still for this precious shot.

40
And they sat still for this one, too!
