Dan and Cathryn will be welcoming twin boys this summer.  How exciting will that be?

It's been a long time since I've done a maternity session and I have missed it.  We had a great time thinking of kitschy poses all in the comfort of the air conditioner.

They're a beautiful, fun couple that will certainly make the best parents.  I hardly remember my pregnancy only 4 years ago and I wish I had taken more pictures of myself pregnant.  Too quickly you forget what a special time it is and how amazingly your body contorts to accomodate life within life.  It's a miracle and it's beautiful.

And what a great thing that society has evolved to appreciate the beauty of the pregnant body thanks to Demi Moore and pioneer photographers like Annie Liebowitz.

Congrats, Dan & Cathryn.  I can't wait to meet and photograph your sons!

These high school sweethearts were my very own students!

And now they're all grown up and graduating in May.  My husband and I dated in high school, too, and seeing them together brought back great memories.

Nikole aka Nuh-kool =) is a jack-of-all-trades helping her parents run their karate school and in her spare time crafting and creating.  I have no doubt that her creative talents will make her a success.

Nikole has a remarkable sense of style for which she was named 'Best Dressed'.  When she was in class with me, I looked forward to seeing her oh-so-cute ensembles.

Nikole and Aaron will be going to prom in a month and she is looking for the perfect dress and having a hard time finding one at all of the regular stores.  If any of you know of a cute, funky boutique in Houston or the surrounding area drop me a line and I will forward the info to her.

Next we have Aaron who is just precious and also a talented artist.  His drawings and sketches are amazing.  Besides his artistic talents he is an all-around great guy - sweet, respectful, caring, stylish, athletic.

I hope my son is as sweet as this young man.

You are both special people to me and I hope we keep in touch over the next few years as your lives lead you in new directions.  I wish you much success and happiness in the real world =)

The Killion Crew traveled to Chicago over spring break!

Chicago1

It is a wonderful city.  I was so impressed by its vastness and cleanliness.  If ever you get the opportunity to travel to Chicago...DO!  There are so many sights and things to do and my only regret was that it was too cold to be outside much.  However, I managed to snap a few cityscape shots from the car.

We also got to go to the historic Chicago Theatre to see Harry Connick Jr. and it was one of the best experiences of my life.  He was awesome and he is coming to Texas in MAY!  I highly recommend his concert!

It's the Incredibles!

Sometimes I think my one toddler would give anyone a run for their money and I wonder what I would ever do with another child.  And then I meet people like Bryn and Bert who not only have successful careers, but also have a 4 year old girl and 4 month old twins to raise.  Wow!  Care to share your secret?

Once in a while I like to showcase pictures in black and white.  I hope you too will see the beauty and power in these black and white pictures.

As I was post-processing these pictures, I began to think about parenthood and what an awesome, scary responsibility it is.

I love Elizabeth Stone's quote:

" Making the decision to have a child is momentous.  It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body."

I couldn't have expressed the sentiment better.

Congratulations Bert and Bryn on a beautiful, beautiful family.

Spring Break!!!

Saturday, March 10, 2007

So much excitement around the Killion house as this is our Spring Break week!  I've got 3 sessions this week and we're taking a break the rest of the week. Phew!  I need it.  I've got several Senior appts. when we return to school and I'm currently booked through the 3rd week in April.  If you're wanting a Senior session please contact me soon.  I will not be booking more than 2 appts. per week.

Many of you know that I've taught high school Spanish for Crosby for 5 years, but next year will be a year of B-I-G change for me as I've decided to teach Kindergarten.  Can you believe it?  I'm so excited and I know this change will really get my creative juices flowing.  I've thought about not teaching and taking on photography full time, but I'm not ready to give up teaching.  If you're a teacher or in the field of education, you will understand what it is to feel like your job is your ministry.  For the past 5 years teaching has been my ministry and I feel so blessed that God has put me in a position where I can directly impact lives.  It is a difficult, often thankless job, but important nonetheless.  Maybe next year I will figure out a way to tie photography into my teaching.  How fun would that be?!

Before I go I want to tell you that April 21st my family and I will be cheering on 3 inspiring women as they ride from Houston to Austin for the MS150.  They are all newbie riders, but they're quickly turning into pros.  The one on the far right is my sister, Veronica.  Jennifer, a long-time friend, is in the middle and Nikki (another dear friend) is on the left.  They've inspired me to consider riding next year (big emphasis on the word consider).  We'll see....

This picture was not taken by me.  This was taken by the Davenports at on of the girls' rest stops at their last ride.  Don't they look sooooo cool?!
